About BAMS

BAMS stands for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. It is an undergraduate degree programme that is designed to make students familiar with the concepts of Ayurveda and its use in the treatment of patients. BAMS incorporates Ayurveda with the concepts of modern medicines and students are taught a combination of both as part of the course curriculum.

Ayurveda is one of the oldest systems of medicine and traces its roots to Vedic times. It is based on the curative properties of herbs and its medicines are known for the natural elements they contain. Considered as an alternative method of treatment, the Ayurveda medicine system not only cures and prevents an ailment but also reduces the frequency with which diseases enter the human body. It utilises the self-healing system of the body. Currently, this alternative method of healing is being accepted by people worldwide. Even the World Health Organisation has provided a worldwide forum for promoting traditional medicine systems such as Ayurveda. Therefore, the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) as a course has opened up many promising opportunities for students. BAMS Admission Process

• BAMS Admission is done on the basis of NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). This exam is now compulsory for admission into many medical courses, including BAMS.
• After NEET, centralized counseling takes place which will help you decide on a college based on your performance. Colleges may take a personal interview round afterward to further shortlist the students.

The Eligibility Criteria for BAMS course are as follows-

• The students need to have a minimum of 50-60% in their 12th or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
• The minimum score in the 12th varies according to the different institutions.
• Candidates must have Physics, chemistry and biology in the 12th exam.
• The upper age limit of the candidates of the general category appearing for the entrance examination must be 20, whereas the candidates of the reserved categories have a relaxation of 4 years.

BAMS Course Details

• BAMS, full form Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, is a 5.5 years long undergraduate course that covers the study of the integrated system of modern medicine and traditional Ayurveda.
• BAMS is one of the most popular Medical Courses apart from MBBS. The basic BAMS eligibility criteria required is that students should have completed their Class 12 with Biology.
• BAMS Admission 2021 is based on the marks obtained in the NEET exam. Some BAMS colleges in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata offer direct admission without NEET.
• BAMS full form is Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery. The course duration is 5 Years and 6 months (5.5 Years approx).
• BAMS course admission is done based on NEET score.
• BAMS course fee ranges from INR 10,000- 50,000 depending on the college or university from where the applicant wants to pursue BAMS.
• BAMS syllabus covers an exhaustive investigation of current life structures, physiology, standards of the solution, social and preventive pharmaceuticals, toxicology, herbal science, ENT, standards of surgery, and alike to train students with the traditional methods in modern science.
